Bowls Australia has released the latest Bowlslink update and has provided the following information to members:

Bowls Australia – August 5, 2024

The latest BowlsLink update is now available for club administrator, released on Monday August 5th, 2024.

This release contains several improvements and upgrades to BowlsLink.

The BowlsLink codebase has been updated to ensure our sports data is well protected with the system on the latest secure version available. In conjunction some changes have been made to 2FA particularly around SMS to ensure club administrators and state staff receive login codes without disruption.

For clubs a positive development has occurred in the Membership and Finance modules with several new features and more flexibility with not only their bowls members but any other types of membership they offer. Clubs can now also easily capture data on visitors to their club such as barefoot bowlers and Jack Attack players with some future developments still planned in this space. Allowing member selectable memberships, auto renewals, notices and membership criteria and several new features that will make things easier for clubs to manage their membership.

The Club area which records data about our clubs has been expanded to bring in more fields around areas such as governance, facilities, planning and inclusion to name just a few. This data which was previously being captured separately to BowlsLink now gives clubs more transparency over what information is being recorded within our sport. In addition the Greens area has been expanded to include more information whilst an Additional details area will collect Annualised data which Bowls Australia will collect each financial year. An additional two club positions have also been created with an integration to the Email Campaign area meaning state bodies will now be able to connect with these club officials via BowlsLink.

Finally within the competition area an Auto Shuffle function is now available for Sides and Shots (Pennant) competitions allowing the Home team manager or a competition administrator to perform a team shuffle simulating the card shuffle which is common around Australia before each pennant match. This function will however not be available in the Live Scoring App until Monday 12th August. This change will allow for further promotion of our sport and help ensure fairness in a transition to competitor scoring in the future.

Bowls Australia encourages clubs to get in touch with their Club Support Managers for help on how these new features might help their club.

Club Administrators and BowlsLink users can also find training and support materials at two websites.
