Juniors Flock to Club Dubbo for Inter-Zone 7-A-Side

by Billy Johnson

Over 100 juniors were present at Club Dubbo to take part in the 2022-23 Inter-Zone 7-A-Side Championship at Club Dubbo. In chilly conditions, competitors took to the greens to participate in singles, pairs and fours matches with the ultimate aim of winning through their section.

The competitors put in some incredible performances, making life difficult for the State Junior Committee tasked with selecting State Junior sides for the upcoming Test Series against Queensland. While for some it is a chance to impress in front of the right people, for many juniors the event was an opportunity to meet and play against others from around the state and to make new friendships.

This combination of competitiveness and camaraderie is what makes the Junior Inter-Zone 7-A-Side so special. There is something for everyone, and it makes for a wonderful experience that the players will not forget.

Three rounds of sectional play have been completed, and the section winners confirmed to battle it out in the semi-finals and final for a coveted gold medal, and the overall title of ‘Champion Zone’. The competition was tight with some sections going down to the wire! Teams who didn’t win their sections will still compete tomorrow, playing off for 5th through to 14th place.

The following top four semi-finals have been confirmed:
