Women’s State Championships – Day 5 Wrap
The final four teams have been confirmed for the Bowls NSW State Mixed Pairs Championship. Cabramatta, Neutral Bay/North Sydney, South Tamworth and Forster have won their way through to the semi-finals after topping their respective sections at South Tamworth today.
Cabramatta duo Carmen Anderson and Gary Corey wrapped their section up after wining their first two rounds against Figtree Sports and Adaminaby before enjoying an afternoon bye. In Section 2, the Neutral Bay/North Sydney combination of Midori Matsuoka and Kenta Treacher faced Lee Benson and Cameron Curtis in a third-round decider to determine who would win their section. The live streamed match was a high quality affair, with Matsuoka and Treacher gaining the early ascendency picking up a crucial 6 to lead 11 – 2 after 5 ends. Wenty Leagues did stage a minor comeback, but Matsuoka and Treacher held firm to win 18 – 9 in a cracking match.
In Section 3, hometown side South Tamworth were up against the unbeaten Waitara and Serge Brecard from South Lismore. South Tamworth needed to win by 8 to have a chance of winning their section, and in the end they did more than enough, cruising to a 23 – 2 win in front of a boisterous local crowd. Claire Kelly and Shannon White (Forster) dominated Section 4, winning all three matches with a margin of +45.
Both semi-finals promise to be great matches for those watching at the club and on the Bowls NSW live stream.
