High Performance Development Manager
Merrylands Bowling Club was established in 1948 and is the current Bowls NSW Club of the Year along with being the reigning Platinum Pennants premiers with a proud history of success in National, State and Region bowls events. We strive to nurture our inclusive and supportive culture and as champions of National, State and Premier League championships, elite performance and player development are keystones of our essence.
With a progressive board who are focused upon enhancing our platform for success, we are seeking to fill this position to ensure the continued success of the Bowling Groups High performance program. This role is critical to achieving quality performances, strengthening our existing membership and local community collaboration.
The position of High-Performance Development Manager offers an opportunity to continue to develop our current and future members to reach their full potential and drive the promotion and advancement of Lawn Bowls within the Club Merrylands Bowling Group. Thus, ensuring our objectives and profile are achieved and enriched over time.
A key objective of the position is to continue the supportive culture that presents opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy playing Lawn Bowls and achieve their potential. The High-Performance Development Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Lawn Bowls training and development programs are conducted to maximise participant numbers, supporting the sport of Lawn Bowls and empowering players to achieve their highest potential. This may be at either Club level, higher competitions, or representative honours.
High Performance Development Manager – Position Description:
REPORTS TO: CEO and works in collaboration with our Bowls Manager and Bowls Development Coordinator.
PURPOSE: The High-Performance Development Manager is to enhance the skills of current bowling members and in turn, grow and sustain participation numbers in Lawn Bowls and support the Bowls Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall Responsibilities
➢ The continued growth and development of players of all abilities and ages.
➢ Providing group and individual coaching.
➢ Planning and implementation of the Club’s training and practice schedules and programs.
➢ Developing a structured approach to skills and performance development.
➢ Developing and implementing a sponsorship program
➢ Working with Bowls personnel to deliver on the Groups strategic plan.
➢ Assisting with player recruitment.
Pennants and Interclub Competitions
➢ To lead and coach the Club for Pennant Games and interclub competitions (Coaching for new bowlers is undertaken by other Club members with coaching experience/qualifications).
➢ Monitor and implement solutions to improve the performance of all Pennant sides.
➢ Develop and execute a Competition Strategy for each side for the Pennant Season.
➢ Develop and conduct team practice sessions to ensure all sides play to their optimum level and improve their performance and shot selection during the playing season.
➢ Assisting with informal and formal Lawn Bowls competitions and conduct Bowls Clinics.
Coaching
➢ Provide technical and measured coaching for members.
➢ Ability and willingness to enhance and mentor our other Club coaches.
➢ Develop an integrated and progressive Coaching Framework to cater for all Club sides (including the coordination of internal coaches and/or members with coaching qualifications/experience).
➢ Identify talent and support targeted players to provide advanced coaching/training and development opportunities through the provision of advice/guidance and assist those players of outstanding potential to further their careers.
Bowls Development Program
➢ Support our established Bowls Development Program for Club Merrylands Bowling Group to grow participation and awareness of Lawn Bowls within the Club and the local community.
➢ Assisting with the delivery of the Bowls Development Program to attract new players of all ages and engage school participation.

Requirements of the applicant:
➢ The successful candidate shall preferably possess State and/or National playing credentials.
➢ Be passionate about developing our members to achieve higher levels of participation and success.
➢ Possess effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
➢ Working with Children certificate.
➢ Coaching accreditation.
