Bowls NSW Welcomes Charlestown and Soldiers Point to the TAB Platinum Pennant
Bowls NSW is thrilled to announce the two new clubs who will join the TAB Platinum Pennant for Season III — the Charlestown Tigers and the Soldiers Point Soldiers.
After receiving several highly competitive submissions through the expressions of interest process, these two clubs have been awarded a coveted spot in the country’s premier bowls competition.
Making way for Charlestown and Soldiers Point are the Mt Lewis Lions and Taren Point Scorchers who were both relegated from the competition at the completion of Season II. Bowls NSW would like to acknowledge and thank both Mt Lewis and Taren Point as founding Platinum Pennant clubs for their commitment to the competition and contributing to its continued success.
As the countdown begins toward Season III, kicking off in February 2026, excitement is already building for what promises to be another high-calibre season. With Charlestown and Soldiers Point stepping onto the Platinum stage, both clubs are keen to make their mark on the competition.

Club Charlestown CEO Michael Gray is excited to have the team and club centre stage throughout the competition. “Club Charlestown is very excited to be a part of the Platinum Pennant. Having won the Grade 1 Pennant in the Newcastle Region last season, we believe we are ready for the step up in competition and look forward to hosting games at what we believe is the best bowls complex in the Hunter.”
Both Newcastle-based clubs bring with them rich histories and a passionate bowling community. Their entry into the TAB Platinum Pennant will create new rivalries and contests adding further excitement to the competition.
Soldiers Point Bowls Director Mark Watt says the club is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the TAB Platinum Pennant. “Soldiers Point Bowling Club is tremendously thrilled on our inclusion into Season III of the Platinum Pennant and honoured to be a part of Australia’s premier bowls competition.”
Bowls NSW CEO Tim Rowe is eager to continue improving on the early successes of the competition, stating “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see the TAB Platinum Pennant grow from concept to reality, and now to be entering its third season with such momentum. We’re excited to welcome two strong clubs in Charlestown and Soldiers Point into the fold for 2026 and I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to the twelve foundation clubs who took a leap of faith with us at the beginning. The future of the Platinum Pennant is bright, and we’ve got some bold, exciting plans for the competition. Watch this space.”
Charlestown and Soldiers Point will make their debut in the TAB Platinum Pennant when Season III kicks off next February.
