by tbreuer

The KENO NSW Blues v Victoria test series concluded at St Johns Park with NSW securing three out of the four shields.

Women’s Open

The open women’s first test came down to the wire with Victoria just getting over the line with a 2 shot victory. Natasha Van Eldik’s side of Kate Matthews, Kate Walker and Anne Johns were on fire winning their rink 24-16.

Pressure was on the Open Women’s side going into the second test. Once again, Natasha Van Eldik’s rink was on top form securing a 20 shot victory over their opponents.

In the third and deciding Test the Keno NSW blues were on fire from the start and took the victory with a final score of 63-50 to win the series for NSW.

Open Men

It was the Victorian side who got off to a flying start in the open men’s test, but it didn’t take long for the NSW Blues to start firing and bring themselves right back into the match. A huge 29-12 win by Cody Packer, Corey Wedlock and Aaron Teys rink skipped by Aaron Wilson kept them in contention for the win and ultimately secured a 58-55 win.

After a win in the opening test, the open men’s side were on top form coming into the second test and blitzed their opponents by 40 shots as NSW took wins across all three rinks.

The KENO NSW blues maintained their momentum in the final Test and won the series with a score of  83 – 42

 U25 Women

The Under 25 Women who played against the Victorian development team sealed a 36-29 victory courtesy of an impressive 21-12 win in the pairs by Erin Swatridge and Brittany Camp.

In their second test, it was once again the pairs that got the home side over the line as NSW clinched a one-shot victory over the Vic’s and securing the overall series. Chanel Chakouch and Louise Cronan combined in the pairs taking a 25-17 victory, while the NSW fours side just came up short on a scoreline of 15-22.

The final test for the U25 women was a nailbiter with the KENO NSW Blues edging ahead to take the series 39-31.

 U25 Men

In the opening U25 men’s test, the NSW Blues came up short against a strong development side from Victoria. The duo of Lachlan Thompson and Jayden Gebbie came close to a win in the pairs, with the Vics just securing a two-shot win.

Our U25 men didn’t go down without a fight in the second test, but ultimately it went the way of the Vics as the score finished 32-36.

In the third test the NSW Blues were chasing redemption and took the last Test of the series 42 – 31.
