by admin

A strong contingent of NSW players is set to compete at the Australian Indoor Championships after securing their spots earlier this year in the qualification event. The Championships will take place at Club Tweed from August 12-15, featuring 32 men and 32 women vying for the prestigious titles.

In the men’s competition, much attention will be on the reigning champion Ray Pearse, who is back to defend his title just months after winning the Mixed Pairs title at the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Guernsey. The World Champion will face stiff competition from other top-tier players from NSW and across Australia. Among the Men’s field are: Corey Wedlock, the world’s number two ranked male player; Jack McShane, the recently crowned Australian Open Men’s Pairs winner and Jeremy Henry, a three-time winner and third on the all-time winners list at the Australian Indoor Championships.

The women’s competition features an equally impressive roster, with Australia’s number one ranked female player, Dawn Hayman, leading the charge. Hayman, who is also ranked number two in the world, is seeded second in the women’s competition. Also competing is Maitland City’s Kayla Courtin and Carolyn Glen from Kurri Kurri who have both qualified for their third-straight Australian Indoor Championships having featured in the 2022 and 2023 editions.

The tournament kicks off on Monday, August 12, with the opening round matches. NSW players will be in action throughout the day, with winners advancing to the second round on Tuesday. The semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday, leading up to the women’s final at 11 am on Thursday, followed by the men’s final at 2 pm.
