2023/24 Champion of Champions Singles winners Crowned

The Champion of Club Champions Singles reached its thrilling conclusion today, with Dawn Hayman (St Johns Park) securing the Women’s Champion of Champions Singles title, while Mason Lewis (Engadine) emerged victorious in the Men’s Champion of Champion Singles.

In the final against Raymond Terrace’s Natasha Van Eldik, Dawn got off to a flying start, leading 20-7 early on. Natasha wasn’t going down without a fight, though, and clawed her way back to reduce the deficit to two shots, 23-21. Dawn however held her nerve and secured victory with a final score of 25-21.

In winning the event, Dawn has secured the elusive Women’s Champion of Champion Singles and State Championship Singles double, and has now won an incredible five State Titles this year!

In a tightly contested men’s semifinal match, Engadine’s Mason Lewis proved too strong for Cabramatta’s Carl Healey, emerging victorious with a score of 25-19.

The second semifinal saw Peter Taylor from Alstonville overcome Taren Points Harley McDonald with a close 25-21 victory, securing his place in the final.

Mason Lewis rocketed to an early lead in the men’s Champion of Champions Singles final against Peter Taylor. However, Taylor displayed his resilience, battling back to tie the score at 14-all. The momentum shifted when Lewis executed a remarkable conversion shot, securing three crucial shots. This advantage proved decisive, as Lewis ultimately triumphed with a final score of 25-17. Congratulations is also due to Peter Taylor for an impressive performance. This marks his fifth runner-up finish in the Champion of Champion.
