The Champion of Club Champions Pairs reached its thrilling conclusion on Friday, May 3rd, with Jamie-Lee Worsnop and Ellen Fife of Cabramatta securing the women’s title, while Ettalong’s Hemi Palmer and Darren Morrison emerged victorious in the men’s category.

Cabramatta’s dynamic duo maintained their impressive performance in this year’s championships, overpowering South Tamworth’s Carol White and Christine Myers with a commanding scoreline of 25-13 in the final. Worsnop and Fife dominated from the outset, establishing a formidable lead and maintaining their momentum throughout the match. It’s important to acknowledge the commendable efforts of White and Myers, who never gave up and despite their best efforts, the gap proved too difficult to overcome.

Meanwhile, in the men’s competition, Taren Point’s Kyle Hansen and Ray Pearse faced off against Ettalong’s Hemi Palmer and Darren Morrison in a hard-fought final. In the highly anticipated final, the online audience, spanning from local supporters to viewers afar, witnessed an exhilarating showdown that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Taren Point surged ahead with a commanding start, taking a 7-1 lead early on. However, Ettalong swiftly rallied, showcasing their skill and determination to level the score after 11 ends. As the match progressed, Ettalong gained momentum, winning five of the next seven ends to establish a four-shot lead, putting pressure on Taren Point.

With the game hanging in the balance, Taren Point staged a remarkable comeback, securing an extraordinary six-shot end in the second last end to reclaim the lead. At this juncture, some may have thought victory was within Taren Point’s grasp.

Yet, Ettalong remained unfazed by the mounting pressure, maintaining their cool and composure. In a stunning display of skill and resilience, they surged ahead once again, securing a four-shot advantage to clinch a hard-fought victory in the thrilling finale.

Earlier in the day, Taren Point faced off against Cabramatta’s Aaron Wilson and Beau Prideaux. Taren Point got off to a strong start securing a seven-shot lead after nine ends. However, Cabramatta fought back fiercely, narrowing the margin to just two shots. Taren Point skipped by recently crowned World Indoor Mixed Pairs Champion Ray Pearse found their form again to extend their lead, ultimately closing the match with a score of 20-12.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Ettalong’s Hemi Palmer and Darren Morrison faced off against the current Men’s State Pairs Champions, Ben Winther and Brett Spurr from Mount Lewis. The teams remained evenly matched in the initial stages of the game, with no significant gap between them. However, the Ettalong duo surged ahead in the middle of the match, claiming an impressive 11 shots over four ends, securing their passage to the final with a convincing performance.

As the curtain falls on the Champion of Club Champions Pairs, we extend our congratulations to the winners and runners up for their outstanding performances throughout the competition. Special thanks to the main host club Cabra-Vale Diggers and to Mount Lewis, Cabramatta Bowls, Merrylands, Guildford and St Johns Park for hosting sectional play throughout the week.
