Exciting Start to the 2023/24 Champion of Club Champions Pairs Competition

by admin

The 2023/24 Champion of Club Champions Pairs competition kicked off with glorious weather today, setting the stage for an exciting day of sectional play across five host clubs: Cabra-Vale Diggers, Cabramatta, Club Merrylands, Club Mt Lewis, Guildford, and St Johns Park.

Players from clubs across New South Wales showcased their skills in the opening round, delivering excellent performances as they aimed to get an early win under their belts. Only the winners of each club’s pairs title earned qualification for this prestigious event.

Eugenie Muncaster and Leisa Morgan, the reigning women’s pairs champions from Kurri Kurri, commenced their campaign with a strong start, securing a win in their opening match against Club Malua Stingrays.

Although the 2022/23 men’s pairs champions, Matt Baus and Lee Schraner of Raymond Terrace, did not qualify for this year’s competition, anticipation soared as a new men’s pairs champion will be crowned on Friday.

The excitement continues as sectional play progresses on Tuesday, April 30th, and Wednesday, May 1st, with clubs aiming to advance to post-sectional play from Wednesday through Friday. The finals, where the Men’s and Women’s Pairs Champion of Club Champions will be determined, are set to take place on Friday.

Bowls NSW will livestream two matches on Tuesday via our Facebook and YouTube channels from Cabra-Vale Diggers. The men’s pair competition, Section 21 featuring Boweal and Mayfield West, will be live from 8:30 am, followed by the women’s match between Glenbrook Panthers and Mount Lewis, airing live from 1 pm.
