by Billy Johnson

The semi-finalists of the Women’s State Open and Senior Fours Championship have been confirmed after another high-quality day of play at South Tamworth and West Tamworth bowling clubs. In the Open Fours, Port City produced one of the comebacks of the Championship, coming from 18 – 5 down after 12 ends against Carlingford to scrape home 22 – 21 in an extra-end thriller. The quarter final between Cabramatta and hometown heroes South Tamworth was also a classic, with Cabramatta prevailing in the end 20 – 17. Both teams put on a show, encapsulating the crowd of supporters. Joining them in the semi-finals are Neutral Bay and ‘State Championship specialists’ Adaminaby, who defeated Windang and Springwood.

In the Senior Fours, Ballina have provided the biggest upset so far, taking down 2020 Senior Fours champions Warilla on an extra-end, before overcoming a strong Tuncurry Beach side 21 – 11. They will now face Double Bay in the semi-finals. The other semi-final will see Bomaderry up against St Johns Park in what promises to be a great match.
