Women’s State Pennant Finals – Day 4 Wrap
After the completion of the Grade 1 Grade 3 BCiB Women’s State Pennant Finals yesterday, fourteen Grade 2 sides and sixteen Grade 4 sides began their quest for a prized State Pennant. Forster Bowling Club and Tuncurry Forster Sports hosted the first round of play in the afternoon, and it was a flying start for some of the competing sides.
Grade 2 saw a clash of the titans with the Engadine Cougars taking on the Cabramatta Bullants. The Cougars jumped out to a commanding lead early on before the Bullants found their feet to work their way back into the match. It all proved too little too late however, as Engadine held on for a 40 – 33 victory. Across the sections, South Tamworth enjoyed a strong 47 – 19 win over Woonona, and local favourites Tuncurry Beach edged Asquith 43 – 36.
In Grade 4, Yamba, Bomaderry, Ingleburn and Gundagai District all enjoyed strong first round wins. With two rounds left to play across all sections, an elusive semi-final spot is still up for grabs for all teams. Play continues for both grades on Tuesday morning to confirm who will make it through to the post-sectional rounds.
